In collaboration with the Arany János Hungarian School and the Hungarian Scout Troops, the Tulipán Foundation hosted a heartwarming St. Nick's Day celebration at the Hungarian House in New York City. This festive event brought the Hungarian American community together to celebrate the cherished customs of Advent and create unforgettable memories for families and children.

The highlight of the evening was a very special visit from St. Nick, who delighted the children by welcoming each of them to sit on his lap. In keeping with Hungarian tradition, St. Nick presented each child with a Mikulás csomag, a red bag filled with goodies, which was a treasured moment for all the little ones. Seeing their excitement and joy as they received their special gift made the event truly magical.

In addition to St. Nick's visit, the event featured a short Nativity play, where children and families gathered to watch the timeless story of Christmas come to life. Traditional Hungarian Christmas songs filled the room, bringing a sense of warmth and community to the celebration.

Throughout the event, families engaged in a variety of traditional Hungarian arts and crafts activities. These included felt making, corn husk crafting, leather craft, and creating festive Christmas decorations, giving both children and adults a chance to explore Hungarian folk traditions in a hands-on, creative way.

The celebration was further enhanced by live music, which set the tone for the evening and added to the joyful atmosphere. The combination of music, crafts, and cultural traditions created a festive environment where the Hungarian American community could come together to embrace their heritage during the Advent season.

This St. Nick's Day event was a beautiful reflection of Hungarian culture and traditions, reminding us of the importance of community, family, and the joy of giving. We are grateful to have shared this special celebration with the Hungarian community in New York and look forward to continuing these traditions for years to come.
